Artist's BiographyDr. Walter Barr holds degrees in Music, Music Performance and Music Education from Northern Arizona University, Arizona State University and post-doctoral work at the Eastman School of Music. His academic career includes teaching posts at Arizona State University, Morehead State University (Ky.) The University of Colorado at Denver and Metropolitan State College of Denver where he is currently a Professor Emeritus of Music.
His performance credentials include work with Henry Mancini, Dizzy Gillespie, Lena Horne, Ella Fitzgerald, Lou Rawls, Mel Torme, Michelle LeGrand, Stevie Wonder, Natalie Cole, Dave Brubeck, Ray Charles, plus many others. He has conducted for Wynton Marsalis, Dr. Billy Taylor, Terence Blanchard, Bobby Shew, Jon Faddis, Clare Fischer and Clark Terry.
His current activities include performing as co-leader of Salsa Con Jazz, an eleven piece Latin jazz-salsa group based in Denver, Colorado.
