Oregon Crusaders Receives Top Marching Brass Honors in Partnership with Conn-Selmer’s King System Blue Instruments

Posted on August 27, 2012

The Oregon Crusaders, Oregon’s Major League Team in Marching Music, received the top marching brass honors at the Drum Corps International (DCI) Open Class competition on Tuesday, August 7th in Michigan City, Indiana with a score of 19.40 in brass performance.  With their 2012 program “Dreaming in Color,” Oregon Crusaders went on to the world class competition where they received 18th place for their brass performance.

“The King System Blue instruments helped us to present a more uniform sound for the audience.  The presence of the low brass in particular helped us achieve our goal of a deep and rich ensemble sound” said Travis Moddison, Oregon Crusaders’ Brass Supervisor.  “And the customer care from Conn-Selmer is second to none.  They’re a pleasure to work with.”

“We are excited not only to partner with a World Champion drum corps, but with the Oregon Crusaders which is pushing the activity in new and exciting directions” said Mike Kamphuis, Sr. Director of Product Marketing for Conn-Selmer.  “As we look ahead we believe that the King System Blue instruments will provide the flexibility and quality that this unique program requires over the coming years as OC looks to be even more competitive in World Class DCI competition moving forward.”
